Only two months until Halloween so it seemed appropriate to take in a movie to celebrate! The plus side to going to see ParaNorman was that we had bought the novelization and it got my twelve year old boy to read, a feat in itself!(If it wasn't read we couldn't go. I know-mean Mom!)
I'm not the best to give a review, as I am just so thrilled to get to the theatre at all, but we did enjoy Paranorman. This dark, animated movie (with frightening scenes) is not going to be one for most younger children. It's from LAIKA, the makers of Coraline, which I think I liked a bit more than this one. That being said, Zombies aren't really my thing, although I did warm up to the undead from Blithe Hollow in the end.  I also got a couple of  songs to add to my Youtube playlist for Halloween!
I hope you get a chance to enjoy a little spookiness soon!

Mummy Can

Love those flat marbles you can get from the dollar store! They made perfect eyes for this little mummy container! I covered an old cocoa can(no sharp edges) with white paper and used glue dots to position the 'eyes'. I cut some old sheer curtains into strips and tea dyed them. Using some tacky glue I wrapped up the mummy and added some glow in the dark bats. You could add a handle and have a cute container to give out to your cutest trick or teaters!

Simple pkg.

Yesterday the kids were bored, so it was time to bring out the stamps! That usually holds their attention for a short while...

Of course I ended up finishing this project by myself! We only get between 10 and 20 kids each Halloween, so we wrapped up some full size popcorn bags(not fancy-but fun!) and I think I may print some Halloween labels for popcans. (Got the boot at Winners last year for a song!)

Boris

Happy Halloween! Just a short post, because, as usual, I'm running around like a chicken with my head cut off (nice halloween image) trying to get things finished up before the weekend! Here's the spider I painted in the stairwell to our rec room. It needs to be painted anyway, so I thought I'd paint 'Boris' right on the wall and I can paint over him after Halloween. Although I can forsee a Christmas spider in my future! That's just the way we roll...

Fuzzy Spiders!

These are the lollipop spiders we did last week. We got all the supplies at the local dollar store!

We just twisted the pipe cleaners around the stem of the lollipop and bent knees and feet into them, Then we glued on some googly eyes and Voila! Sweet spiders!

Witches Wing-Ding

The plans are in the works-this year it's going to be held at my cousin(and friend's) big Dutch colonial style house. It's a girls night in with witch's costumes! An after supper appetizer/drinks fun time! We decided on e-invitations from smilebox. I can't wait to see how the spell unfolds...

LTD Harvest catalog is available; although I've never ordered anything, I thought these wee pretty cool! If I ever decide to try papier mache, these could inspire some cool ideas!
