Only two months until Halloween so it seemed appropriate to take in a movie to celebrate! The plus side to going to see ParaNorman was that we had bought the novelization and it got my twelve year old boy to read, a feat in itself!(If it wasn't read we couldn't go. I know-mean Mom!)
I'm not the best to give a review, as I am just so thrilled to get to the theatre at all, but we did enjoy Paranorman. This dark, animated movie (with frightening scenes) is not going to be one for most younger children. It's from LAIKA, the makers of Coraline, which I think I liked a bit more than this one. That being said, Zombies aren't really my thing, although I did warm up to the undead from Blithe Hollow in the end. I also got a couple of songs to add to my Youtube playlist for Halloween!
I hope you get a chance to enjoy a little spookiness soon!jackfrostyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01060194493643693801noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8893107169139469052.post-22205700041527011562011-03-03T05:07:00.000-08:002011-03-03T05:15:44.064-08:00Mummy Can Love those flat marbles you can get from the dollar store! They made perfect eyes for this little mummy container! I covered an old cocoa can(no sharp edges) with white paper and used glue dots to position the 'eyes'. I cut some old sheer curtains into strips and tea dyed them. Using some tacky glue I wrapped up the mummy and added some glow in the dark bats. You could add a handle and have a cute container to give out to your cutest trick or teaters!

jackfrostyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01060194493643693801noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8893107169139469052.post-59602699625326632582010-10-27T04:24:00.000-07:002010-10-27T04:30:08.530-07:00Simple pkg.

Yesterday the kids were bored, so it was time to bring out the stamps! Just a short post, because, as usual, I'm running around like a chicken with my head cut off (nice halloween image) trying to get things finished up before the weekend! Here's the spider I painted in the stairwell to our rec room. It needs to be painted anyway, so I thought I'd paint 'Boris' right on the wall and I can paint over him after Halloween. Although I can forsee a Christmas spider in my future! That's just the way we roll...

jackfrostyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01060194493643693801noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8893107169139469052.post-21051192658634322302010-10-20T05:18:00.000-07:002010-10-20T05:22:56.285-07:00Fuzzy Spiders!

These are the lollipop spiders we did last week. I have a 9 and a 5 year old (both boys) so I have an excuse to (what some might call) OVER celebrate the holidays in our house! I know I enjoy it more than they do, but hopefully they'll take some fun memories with them into adulthood!

Today's suprise for them was sugar cookie pumpkins in their lunchboxes. I just had to put them up. I drew the pattern freehand from Martha's template. I decided to use patterned wallpaper; paint it with black, semi-gloss interior paint, using a sponge brush. I wiped some of the paint gently off the surface using the same brush to give it a slightly lighter look. The semi-gloss gives them a leather/vinyl look.

jackfrostyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01060194493643693801noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8893107169139469052.post-68190176108608860532009-09-22T06:03:00.000-07:002009-09-22T06:14:12.141-07:00Witches on Parade!

HallOOOO! Just wanting to share the 'wee boo thud' invitations my co-planner and I have made for the small Halloween party we are putting together for the kids this year. Isn't it great Halloween is on a Saturday? We got the Idea and downloaded the template from Papercrafts Magazine. Thanks Papercrafts! The interior reads-Calling all ghosts and goblins, too! There's friendly witches waiting for you, with fun and treats and games to play. Come celebrate with them this Halloween Day! There are three of us dressing up as witches to host the party!

Pinata to follow...(hee, hee, cackle, hee!)
jackfrostyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01060194493643693801noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8893107169139469052.post-35787574666839164162008-10-28T16:55:00.000-07:002008-10-28T16:58:03.555-07:00Here's my Banner!

jackfrostyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01060194493643693801noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8893107169139469052.post-27817776315310417642008-07-14T05:09:00.000-07:002008-07-14T05:17:01.478-07:00Ghastly Giggles!Trisha at Boo-ville has posted some great riddles on her blog! You just have to admit-a great day to get in the Halloween spirit! At the Magical Holiday Home Forums we celebrate Great Pumpkin Day on either The 13th or the 31st of each month to get ready for Halloween. I like to celebrate both if possible so I'm nicknaming the 13th Halloweenie Day to keep it straight in my own head!
We brought DS7 home from hospital today so didn't really get anything accomplished for halloween, but I read a great book!
http://www.amazon.com/Whispering-Witches-Anna-Dale/dp/074756910X/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1213400423&sr=1-1
I loved it!
